Target Information

OLFM3 (olfactomedin 3), also known as NOE3, is a 478 amino acid protein that interacts with myocilin. Myocilin is an extracellular protein that plays a key role in the actomyosin system and controls intraocular pressure.
OLFM3 is a secreted protein containing an olfactomedin-like (OLF) domain (~260 amino acids) commonly found in secreted glycoproteins. It localizes to the Golgi apparatus and is highly expressed in eye and brain tissue.
Mutations in the OLFM3 gene may cause severe glaucoma, characterized by increased intraocular pressure leading to vision loss.
