Target Information

TRPV4 (Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily V Member 4) is a cation-selective channel activated in response to systemic osmotic pressure.
It is a non-selective calcium-permeant cation channel involved in osmotic sensitivity and mechanosensitivity.
TRPV4 belongs to the OSM9-like transient receptor potential channel (OTRPC) subfamily of the TRP superfamily.
Mutations in the TRPV4 gene are associated with spondylometaphyseal and metatropic dysplasia, and hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy type IIC.
Diseases linked to TRPV4 include Metatropic Dysplasia and Spondylometaphyseal Dysplasia, Kozlowski Type.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
