Target Information
This potassium channel is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels allow potassium to flow more easily into the cell than out of it. Their voltage dependence is influenced by extracellular potassium concentration; as external potassium increases, the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. Inward rectification is primarily due to blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. This receptor plays a crucial role in regulating the heartbeat.
