This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HPD protein.
Target Information
The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of proteins regulates programmed cell death triggered by various stimuli. All IAPs have at least one baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) motif essential for their anti-apoptotic activity. A mitochondrial serine protease, Omi/HtrA2, is released upon apoptotic induction and binds to IAP. Similar to Smac/DIABLO, the mature Omi protein contains a conserved IAP-binding motif (AVPS) at its N terminus. Deregulated cytoplasmic expression of Omi induces apoptosis, suggesting its role in the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway.
