Product Specific Information
Predicted to react with mouse and rat samples.
Target Information
Heterotrimeric G proteins relay information from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Each receptor detects specific extracellular stimuli such as photons, pheromones, odorants, hormones, or neurotransmitters, while effectors like adenyl cyclase generate intracellular messengers.
In mammals, G protein α, β, and γ subunits are encoded by at least 16, 4, and 7 genes, respectively. While α subunits have been most studied for their GTP-binding and hydrolysis activity, βγ subunits also play important regulatory roles. Different tissue-specific G protein complexes contain distinct γ, α, and β subunits, allowing for functional diversity through preferential subunit associations.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
