Target Information
The WNT gene family encodes secreted signaling proteins involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes such as cell fate regulation and embryonic patterning.
The WNT16 gene produces two transcript variants controlled by separate promoters. Variant 2 is expressed mainly in the pancreas, while variant 1 is broadly expressed, notably in kidney, placenta, brain, heart, and spleen.
WNT16 acts as a ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors.
