S100A9 (MRP-14)는 2개의 EF-hand 칼슘 결합 모티프를 가진 S100 단백질 계열의 구성원입니다. S100 단백질은 다양한 세포의 세포질 및 핵에 존재하며, 세포 주기 진행과 분화 등 여러 세포 과정의 조절에 관여합니다. S100 유전자는 염색체 1q21에 클러스터 형태로 위치한 최소 13개의 구성원을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 casein kinase의 억제에 관여할 수 있으며, 발현 변화는 낭포성 섬유증과 관련이 있습니다.
