Target Information
Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine- and threonine-specific protein kinases activated by calcium and diacylglycerol. PKC family members phosphorylate diverse protein targets and participate in various cellular signaling pathways. They also serve as receptors for phorbol esters, which are tumor promoters. Each PKC isoform has a distinct expression profile and functional role. The PRKD3 kinase is activated by agonists of G protein-coupled receptors and accumulates in the nucleus upon activation. It can also be activated following B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) engagement, requiring phospholipase C gamma and other PKC family members.
