Target Information
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent a complex class of ion channels with diverse physiological functions, including regulation of neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume.
The KCNG1 gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily G, and is abundantly expressed in skeletal muscle. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in both normal and cancerous tissues.
