Target Information
Mox1 and gp91-phox are essential components of the NADPH oxidase complex, responsible for superoxide generation. This complex is expressed in phagocytes, neuroepithelial bodies, vascular smooth muscle, and endothelial cells.
It includes membrane-bound flavocytochrome subunits (gp91-phox and p22-phox) and cytosolic proteins (p47-phox and p67-phox).
Both gp91-phox and p22-phox act as oxygen sensors that initiate cellular signaling under hypoxic conditions.
Mox1 and gp91-phox share identical C-terminal sequences but differ in tissue expression: gp91-phox in eosinophils, neutrophils, monocytes, and B-lymphocytes; Mox1 mainly in the colon, with low levels in uterus and prostate.
