Product Specific Information

This peptide corresponds to 17 amino acids near the extracellular domain of human DC-SIGN (ED).
PEP-0092 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-19967.

Target Information

The DC-SIGN gene encodes a transmembrane receptor expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. It plays a key role in the innate immune system by recognizing diverse pathogens including parasites and viruses.
The protein has three domains:

  1. N-terminal transmembrane domain
  2. Tandem-repeat neck domain
  3. C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain

The extracellular region (neck and C-type lectin domains) functions as both a pathogen recognition receptor and a cell adhesion receptor. The neck domain enables homo-oligomerization, enhancing multivalent ligand binding.
Variations in the neck domain repeat number can affect ligand-binding ability. This gene is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand-binding and expression patterns.
Alternative splicing produces multiple variants.
