Target Information
FtsZ is an essential cell division protein forming a contractile ring structure (Z ring) at the future cell division site. Regulation of ring assembly controls the timing and location of cell division. The FtsZ ring recruits other division proteins to form a new cell wall between dividing cells. It binds GTP and exhibits GTPase activity.
