TBR2는 T-box라 불리는 공통 DNA 결합 도메인을 공유하는 보존된 단백질 패밀리의 구성원입니다. T-box 유전자는 발생 과정 조절에 관여하는 전사인자를 암호화하며, 생쥐에서 이 단백질이 결손될 경우 영양막 발달과 원시선 형성에 필수적임이 보고되었습니다.
TBR2는 뇌 발달에 중요한 역할을 하며, 대뇌피질의 중간 전구세포 및 그 후손 세포의 특이화와 증식에 필요합니다.
