Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the sorting nexin (SNX) family, which contains a phox (PX) domain responsible for phosphoinositide binding and is involved in intracellular trafficking.
SNX9 lacks a coiled-coil region but includes an SH3 domain near its N-terminus.
It interacts with cytoplasmic domains of precursor forms of ADAM9 and ADAM15, binds the β-appendage domain of adaptor protein 2, and assists in its plasma membrane functions.
Additionally, SNX9 interacts with activated Cdc42-associated kinase-2 to regulate degradation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein.
