SLAIN2는 SLAIN1과 밀접한 관련이 있는 단백질로, 줄기세포 및 배아상피 단계에서 발현되는 새로운 줄기세포 단백질입니다. SLAIN1과 달리 SLAIN2는 광범위하게 발현되며 미세소관(MT)의 성장과 조직화를 조절하는 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
SLAIN2는 end-binding proteins (EBs), cytoplasmic linker proteins (CLIPs, 예: CLIP170), CLIP-associated proteins 및 MT polymerase ch-TOG와 상호작용합니다. RNAi를 이용한 SLAIN2의 감소는 방사형 MT 배열의 붕괴를 초래하여 MT 성장 및 조직화 조절에서의 중요성을 보여줍니다.
