Product Specific Information
This L161 monoclonal antibody detects CD1c (also known as BDCA-1), a glycoprotein linked to beta-2 microglobulin on thymocytes and antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic and Langerhans cells. CD1c is also expressed on some circulating and marginal zone B cells and plays a role in presenting lipid antigens to effector T cells during adaptive immune responses.
Alternative splicing produces three isoforms of CD1c: soluble, membrane, and cytoplasmic/soluble.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.1 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Compatibility Note:
NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains instead.
CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer Usage:
Required for optimal staining with NovaFluor conjugates.
Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails/master mixes before combining with cells.
For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL of cell sample.
NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton™ technology, featuring engineered fluorescent signatures optimized for minimal spillover and spread.

Target Information
The CD1 family encodes transmembrane glycoproteins related to MHC proteins, forming heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. These proteins mediate lipid and glycolipid antigen presentation to T cells.
Five CD1 family genes are clustered on chromosome 1, differing in localization and ligand specificity.
The encoded protein localizes to late endosomes and lysosomes and requires vesicular acidification to bind lipid antigens.
