Target Information
RCC1 is a guanine-nucleotide releasing factor that promotes the exchange of Ran-bound GDP by GTP.
It regulates the onset of chromosome condensation in the S phase and binds both nucleosomes and double-stranded DNA.
The RCC1-Ran complex acts as a signal transmission component detecting unreplicated DNA and plays a key role in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport, mitosis, and nuclear-envelope assembly.
