Target Information
TRF2 is a ubiquitously expressed protein implicated in the control of telomere length.
It contains a Myb-related DNA binding motif, binds to duplex TTAGGG repeats, and localizes to all human telomeres in metaphase chromosomes.
TRF2 helps protect chromosome ends by maintaining the correct telomere structure and may prevent senescence in primary human cells.
Inhibition of TRF2 has been shown to induce apoptosis in certain mammalian cell types.
