Target Information
This gene belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules (Ig-CAMs) and plays a role in the development of the human central and peripheral nervous systems.
It is a candidate gene for Down syndrome and congenital heart disease (DSCHD).
A similar Ig-CAM gene is located on chromosome 11.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed.
