JMJD2A is a member of the Jumonji domain 2 (JMJD2) family and contains multiple domains including JmjN, JmjC, JD2H, two TUDOR, and two PHD-type zinc fingers.
This protein acts as a trimethylation-specific demethylase, converting specific trimethylated histone residues to dimethylated forms, and functions as a transcriptional repressor.
