Target Information
The MLX gene encodes a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) transcription factor family. These proteins form heterodimers with Mad proteins and are involved in cellular proliferation, determination, and differentiation. MLX may diversify Mad family function by selectively associating with specific repressors such as Mad1 and Mad4. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
