Product Specific Information
- Antibody is stable for 24 months.
- Positive Control: Human colon tissue
- Cellular Localization: Cell surface and cytoplasm
Specificity Comments:
Alpha-catenin and beta-catenin bind to the intracellular domain of E-cadherin, while p120 catenin binds E-cadherin at a juxta-membrane site. This complex stabilizes tight junctions. In cells, p120 catenin localizes to the E-cadherin/catenin adhesion complex and associates with the cytoplasmic C-terminus of E-cadherin, potentially interacting with other cadherins.
p120 is a proliferation-associated nucleolar protein found in most human malignant tumors but not in resting normal cells. In colorectal cancer, altered p120 catenin localization correlates with loss of cytoplasmic E-cadherin. p120 staining aids in distinguishing ductal vs. lobular neoplasia in breast tissue and clarifies low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ from lobular neoplasia. Altered p120 catenin expression predicts poor outcomes in invasive breast cancer.
Target Information
Delta 1 Catenin is a tyrosine kinase substrate involved in cell transformation by SRC and receptor signaling through EGF, PDGF, CSF-1, and ERBB2. Catenin–cadherin complexes link to the actin filament network, crucial for cadherin-mediated cell adhesion.
