PLK4 (Polo-like kinase 4)는 세린/트레오닌 단백질 키나아제의 polo 계열에 속하며, 중심체 내의 중심소체(centriole)에 위치하여 세포 주기 동안 중심소체 복제를 조절합니다. PLK4의 과발현은 각 기존 중심소체 주위에 여러 프로중심소체(procentriole)를 동시에 형성시켜 중심소체 증폭을 유도하며, 이는 인간 세포에서 중심소체 생성을 증가시킵니다. PLK4 유전자 발현량이 감소하면 유사분열 오류 및 암 발생 가능성이 증가할 수 있습니다.
