Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. This structure compacts DNA into chromatin, regulating accessibility for transcription, replication, and repair. Histone H2B also exhibits broad antibacterial activity.
