| Background | This gene encodes a member of the serine/threonine kinase family that regulates cell polarity and functions as a tumor suppressor. Mutations are associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by gastrointestinal polyps, pigmented macules on the skin and mouth, and other neoplasms. Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been observed but not thoroughly characterized. (RefSeq, Jul 2008) |
