세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)
Cytoplasm and nucleus. Translocated into the nucleus upon tyrosine phosphorylation and dimerization in response to IFN-γ and signaling by activated FGFR1–4 (PubMed:15322115). Monomethylation at Lys-525 is required for phosphorylation at Tyr-701 and nuclear translocation (PubMed:28753426). Also translocates into the nucleus in response to interferon-β stimulation (PubMed:26479788).
배경 (Background)
The STAT1 protein is a member of the STAT family, activated by cytokines and growth factors. Upon phosphorylation, STAT1 forms homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus and act as transcription activators. It mediates gene expression essential for cell viability and immune response. Activated by interferon-α, interferon-γ, EGF, PDGF, and IL6. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [RefSeq, Jul 2008]
