Background
Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins that preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner, contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Cadherin-24 mediates strong cell-cell adhesion and contains five cadherin domains. It associates with alpha-, beta-, and delta-catenins.
