Target Information
PER2 (Period circadian protein homolog 2)는 핵 내 단백질로, 다른 circadian core oscillator 단백질들과의 상호작용 또는 인산화에 의해 핵-세포질 간 이동을 수행합니다.
PER2는 basic helix-loop-helix 계열 전사인자로, PAC (PAS-associated C-terminal) 도메인과 두 개의 PAS (PER-ARNT-SIM) 도메인을 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 CRY, CLOCK/NPAS2, BMAL1/BMAL2, CSNK1D/E, TIMELESS, PER 단백질들과 함께 circadian core oscillator를 구성하며, 생체 리듬 생성에 필수적입니다.
PER2는 circadian 전사 루프의 음성 조절 요소로 작용하며, 다른 조절 단백질들과 상호작용하여 핵으로 운반하는 기능을 담당합니다.
주로 골격근과 췌장에서 강하게 발현되며, 폐에서 약하게 발현됩니다.
PER2 결함은 Familial Advanced Sleep-Phase Syndrome (FASPS)의 원인이 될 수 있습니다.
