Target Information
The DNAH5 gene encodes a dynein protein, part of a microtubule-associated motor protein complex consisting of heavy, light, and intermediate chains. This protein functions as an axonemal heavy chain dynein with ATPase activity, generating force through ADP release.
Mutations in this gene are associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia type 3 and Kartagener syndrome, both caused by ciliary defects.
