Target Information
Glucose transporter 2 isoform is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in the liver, islet beta cells, intestine, and kidney epithelium. It mediates facilitated bidirectional glucose transport. Due to its low affinity for glucose, it functions as a glucose sensor. Mutations in the gene encoding this protein cause Fanconi-Bickel syndrome.
