Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This purified antibody is directed against lysozyme from hen egg white protein. It is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis. Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum and purified Lysozyme (Hen Egg White). BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with all forms of chicken lysozyme, including precursor and A/B chains. Chains designated M, L, F, C, Y, and D show 100% sequence homology. Lysozyme from quail and pheasant are also 100% identical with HEW lysozyme. Cross-reactivity with other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

This gene encodes human lysozyme, an enzyme that cleaves β(1-4) glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine in bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan. Lysozyme is an antimicrobial agent found in human milk, spleen, lung, kidney, white blood cells, plasma, saliva, and tears. Missense mutations in LYZ are associated with heritable renal amyloidosis.
