RARRES1은 레티노이드산(RA) 수용체 반응성 유전자로 확인되었으며, Type 1 막단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 유전자의 발현은 tazarotene 및 retinoic acid receptor에 의해 상향 조절되며, 전립선암에서는 프로모터 및 CpG island의 메틸화로 인해 하향 조절됩니다. 또한 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이체가 관찰되었습니다.
