Target Information
The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, mediating biosynthetic protein transport from the ER through the Golgi to the trans-Golgi network. The coatomer complex is required for budding from Golgi membranes and is essential for retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins. In mammals, recruitment occurs via ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), small GTP-binding proteins that also influence Golgi structural integrity and the processing, activity, and recycling of LDL receptors.
