Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily.
These amiloride-sensitive sodium channels contain intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop with many cysteine residues of conserved spacing.
This protein may play a role in neurotransmission, and heteromeric association with ACCN3 (variant 1) forms proton-gated channels sensitive to gadolinium.
