Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and perform diverse functions, including transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins have a Kruppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain that interacts with KAP1 to recruit histone-modifying proteins.
ZFAND1 (AN1-type zinc finger protein 1) is a 268 amino acid protein with two AN1-type zinc fingers, typically found in ubiquitin-like domain-containing proteins involved in the ubiquitination pathway. AN1-type zinc fingers have six conserved cysteines and two histidines forming a dimetal (zinc)-bound alpha/beta fold. Two isoforms of ZFAND1 are produced by alternative splicing.
