Target Information
Prosapip1 is a binding partner of the postsynaptic density (PSD) protein ProSAP2/Shank3, a major scaffolding protein in excitatory brain synapses. It binds ProSAP2/Shank3 through a PDZ domain and links it to the Spine-associated Rap-Gap (SPAR). Prosapip1 shares significant homology with PSD-Zip70, both containing a Fez1 domain, forming a novel family of scaffolding molecules termed Fezzins. Studies indicate Prosapip1 is also present in endocrine cells, localized primarily in hormone-storing compartments, suggesting possible functions in non-neuronal cells.
