단백질의 유비퀴틴화는 비정상적이거나 수명이 짧은 단백질을 분해 대상으로 지정하는 중요한 세포 기전입니다. 유비퀴틴화 과정에는 E1(유비퀴틴 활성화 효소), E2(유비퀴틴 결합 효소), E3(유비퀴틴 단백질 리가아제)의 세 가지 효소군이 관여합니다.
UBE2G2 유전자는 E2 유비퀴틴 결합 효소 패밀리에 속하며, 마우스 상동체와 100% 서열 동일성을 가집니다. 이 유전자는 대부분의 조직에서 발현되며, 특히 성인 근육에서 높은 발현을 보입니다. 세 가지 상이한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 전사체 변이체가 보고되었습니다.
