Target Information
The FIG4 protein belongs to the SAC domain-containing protein family. The SAC domain (~400 amino acids) contains seven conserved motifs and exhibits phosphoinositide phosphatase activity. The yeast homolog, Sac1p, regulates phosphoinositides and influences processes such as actin cytoskeleton organization, Golgi function, and vacuole morphology. Mutations in FIG4 are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4J.
