Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for the ~110 kDa Cadherin 11 protein. Cross-reactivity with other Cadherin family members has not been observed. It is confirmed reactive with human and mouse Cadherin 11. Reactivity was validated on western blots using MDA.MB231 cells (human) and mouse L fibroblast lysates.
For immunohistochemistry of frozen sections, incubate for 30–60 minutes at room temperature or overnight at 4°C.

Target Information

The CDH11 gene encodes a type II classical cadherin, part of the cadherin superfamily of calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules. Classical cadherins contain five N-terminal extracellular cadherin (EC) domains, a transmembrane domain, and a conserved cytoplasmic domain.
Type II cadherins, including cadherin-5, -6, -8, -11, and -12, lack the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence found in type I cadherins.
Cadherin-11 (OB-Cadherin) serves as a marker for mesenchymal, loosely connected, and migratory cells. It is strongly expressed in brain, spinal cord, bone marrow, and bone cells, and plays a role in bone development and maintenance.
A variant form of Cadherin-11, generated by alternative splicing, encodes a truncated protein with an unusual cytoplasmic domain. Cadherin-11 expression is associated with invasive breast cancer cell lines, suggesting its role as a marker for aggressive tumor subsets.
