U2AF35 (U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein auxiliary factor, 35 kDa subunit) belongs to the splicing factor SR family.
This protein is a non-snRNP component required for U2 snRNP binding to the pre-mRNA branch site.
It plays a crucial role in constitutive and enhancer-dependent RNA splicing by mediating interactions between the large subunit and enhancer-bound proteins.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
