Recombinant human IL-2 produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated mutein (variant form) of the human IL-2 polypeptide chain containing 133 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 15,385.79 Da.
eBioscience’s rhIL-2 is Des N-Terminal Met and has an Ala substitution for Cysteine at position 126.
BMS334 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50, as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine CTLL-2 cells, is <0.0645 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 1.55×10⁷ IU/mg.

Target Information

Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immuno-modulatory cytokine essential for the proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, and macrophages.
IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is shared by IL-4 and IL-7.
Expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, representing a unique regulatory mode for precise gene expression.
Disruption of an IL-2–like gene in mice leads to an ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating its essential role in immune response regulation.
