Target Information
GADD153 (also known as DDIT3 or CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that dimerizes with transcription factors C/EBPα and C/EBPβ. The dimer inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining activity toward non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 is not expressed at detectable levels but is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
