ARHGEF11은 1527개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, dbl homology 및 pleckstrin homology 도메인, PDZ 도메인, proline-rich 서열, RGS 서열을 포함합니다.
RhoA GTPase에 대한 guanine nucleotide exchange factor(GEF)로 작용하며, RAC1이나 CDC42에는 작용하지 않습니다. 또한 GNA12 및 GNA13에 대한 GTPase-activating protein(GAP)으로 기능합니다.
ARHGEF11은 G 단백질과 복합체를 형성하여 Rho 의존적 신호를 통해 신경돌기 수축을 유도합니다. EAAT4와 상호작용하여 글루탐산 수송을 4배 증가시키며, 글루타메르기 시냅스에서 perisynaptic 분포를 조절합니다.
세포골격 재구성을 유도하며, 과발현 시 막 돌출 및 필로포디아 형성을 촉진합니다. 뇌, 폐, 간, 신장, 골격근 등 다양한 조직에서 발현됩니다.
