Target Information
Paired receptors consist of highly related activating and inhibitory receptors involved in immune system regulation. PILRB is an activating receptor that associates with ITAM-bearing adapter molecules on the cell surface. Cell signaling pathways depend on the balance between activating and inhibitory processes, with SHP-1-mediated dephosphorylation playing a central role. PILRalpha mediates inhibition, while PILRbeta mediates activation. These genes are located in tandem on chromosome 7. The PILRB gene encodes the non-ITIM-bearing activating receptor with a truncated cytoplasmic tail. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
