Target Information
HMGA1 encodes a non-histone protein involved in multiple cellular processes, including regulation of inducible gene transcription, retroviral integration into chromosomes, and metastatic progression of cancer cells. The protein binds preferentially to the minor groove of A+T-rich DNA regions and exhibits conformational flexibility upon substrate binding. It is frequently acetylated and localized in the nucleus.
