Target Information

CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily.
Originally identified as a surface antigen of Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, CD30 binds CD30L (CD153) and mediates cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
It plays a key role in Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30+ lymphomas and acts as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection.
CD30 expression is observed in Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, virus-infected T/B cells, and activated normal T/B cells.
Soluble CD30 (sCD30) serves as a marker of Th2 immune response.
TRAF2 and TRAF5 interactions activate NF-κB signaling, regulating apoptosis and limiting autoreactive CD8 T cell proliferation.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms.
CD30 is expressed by mononuclear cells in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Reed Sternberg cells, and most Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL), as well as embryonal carcinomas.
