Function:
Saraf encodes a protein that negatively regulates store-operated Ca²⁺ entry (SOCE) to protect cells from Ca²⁺ overfilling. Upon cytosolic Ca²⁺ elevation after endoplasmic reticulum refilling, it promotes slow inactivation of STIM1/2-dependent SOCE by facilitating STIM de-oligomerization, thereby preventing Ca²⁺ overload.
