Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a small family of proteins which bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) with conserved motifs RNP1 and RNP2, essential for DNA binding. They are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. Several transcript variants due to alternative splicing exist, and a pseudogene is located on chromosome 12.
