Target Information
Msi2 (musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid protein localized in the cytoplasm and contains two RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains. It is ubiquitously expressed at low levels and functions as an RNA-binding protein that regulates target mRNA expression, contributing to stem cell proliferation and maintenance in the central nervous system. Msi2 is phosphorylated posttranslationally and upregulated after brain injury, suggesting roles in healing and regeneration. Chromosomal aberrations involving Msi2 are linked to chronic myeloid leukemia progression. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
