Target Information
The 14-3-3 family consists of at least seven highly conserved isoforms expressed in all eukaryotic cells. These proteins act as key regulators of signal transduction by binding to serine-phosphorylated proteins.
Interactions include:
- Cdc25C: regulates cell cycle entry
- Bad: prevents apoptosis
Other binding partners include protein kinase C family members, Cbl, IRS-1, polyoma middle-T antigen, nitrate reductase, S-raf, and IGF-1 receptor.
Detection of 14-3-3 proteins in cerebrospinal fluid aids in differential diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and other prion diseases.
